Why conspiracy theorists are always raving lunatics

There are three elements to the definition of a conspiracy.  In order for something to be a conspiracy it must :

1. be conducted by a group of individuals
2. who have been communicating in secret
3. and be immoral or illegal

By this definition, certainly we can rule out Guantanamo, the invasion of Iraq, the drone assassinations in Pakistan and the NSA wire-tapping as being conspiratorial in nature. In fact we can rule out just about all of the activities of law-enforcement, intelligence and government (not to mention the military), which, as we all know, are always conducted completely out-in-the-open with results that are without a doubt beyond-the-pale.
